I Remember Reading About the GOP 4-Year Cycle
For half a century, Republicans have always nominated the runner-up from four years prior. When Richard Nixon took the nomination in 1960, the only other candidate to get delegate votes was Barry Goldwater; so the next time around, Goldwater got nominated.
Later, after Gerald Ford edged out Ronald Reagan in 1976, Reagan got nominated four years later. Regan beat out George Bush Sr. Eight years later, Bush beat out Bob Dole; then Dole won the next nomination.
After George W. Bush beat out McCain in 2000, McCain got the nomination and beat out Romney in 2008. So here we are, and its Romney's turn. B-o-o-o-o-r-r-r-r-r-ring!
