Comment: Don't fear "fear itself."

(See in situ)

Don't fear "fear itself."

Fear is our friend. Fear is what tells us when we're in danger. "Fear of the IRS, fear of stepping outside the lines, fear of disobeying so-called “authority.” And the biggest fear of all: Fear of losing our stuff."

If you think that those fears are to be feared then you're wrong. The IRS is to be feared. Getting in trouble for "stepping outside the lines" is to be feared. Well, actually, that one should be resisted. "Authority" is to be feared when it oversteps its Constitutional bounds. And stuff is just stuff.

But please don't fear "fear itself" - it's our first early warning sign of danger. Admittedly, sometimes the danger is imaginary, but figuring out the difference is what our brain is for.
