Franklin wanted Paine to burn the manuscript of one of the most important books ever written. Franklin wanted people to remain in the dark, in other words sheeple, regarding their own religion. He did not want their eyes to be opened; he wanted the truth suppressed. He wanted them to remain dumbed-down, never questioning what they believed.

My opinion about Benjamin Franklin has been changed sharply, but for the worst.
