Perhaps you do not understand the Party system here.

If you want to be a local delegate to the GOP you are elected.

The local delegate are called to County Convention and there we elect a chair, treasurer and secretary.

When called to the District Convention we elect the National delegates.

When we are called to the State Convention we elect an National chairman and chairwoman to represent us on the RNC. The RNC will have two new members from Michigan this year, Mr Agema and Ms. Land.

In my precinct of 2000 voters we elect 4 precinct delegates.

The GOP is whoever we elect it to be.

We could have won handily this year if we would have elected a majority of liberty-minded folk as precinct delegates four years ago. Then we would have controlled the RNC and the Rules and we would have walked away with a majority of the National delegates.

That was the plan laid out in 2007. Too few took it seriously. They did not become elected precinct delegates and become the GOP.

There are notable exceptions at the State level.

Same rules apply to the Democratic Party. They also elect the delegates who have similar responsibilities in that Party.
