Worked for me...

No sugar, honey, fruit juice, grains, or white potatoes. Yams are okay. Moderate amounts of fruit are okay, but don't load up on fruit on an empty stomach. The idea is to avoid insulin surges.

Drink a large glass of water before meals. Drink plenty of water throughout the day.

Where to get your carbos? Eat two huge bowls of salad greens a day. Raw spinach, Romaine, kale, bok choy, etc., etc.. Mix it up. I could give you my super secret vinegar and oil dressing recipe. Eat carrots, celery, cucumbers, and other stuff like that.

Eat the salad with meat, fish, boiled eggs, or hard cheese.

I went from 215 to 175 doing that. About six months, I guess. I feel grrrreat!

Edit: What prompted me to change my ways was a blood test that came back with high serum glucose. I do not need type II diabetes. It took a couple of months, but now I am back in the normal range, glucose-wise.
