Thought

For the record, I'm not Christian nor do I believe in creationism. I do believe in Intelligant Design and that the theory of evolution fits perfectly with my concept of God. I've read a bit into Buddhist scripture that I think applies.

Buddha was tight-lipped when asked about the universe and how it came about. His teaching was that mankind is filled with suffering and the cure was understanding the source of that suffering and developing loving-kindness to create peace of mind (this is, of course, a massive over simplification). So when asked about the origins of the universe, Buddha asked "Does the man who has been shot with a poison dart refuse treatment only asking 'Where did the dart come from? What was the source?'" What matters is the present moment and how we deal with what we have now.

Educational pursuits are important to our understanding of the universe but we shouldn't use it as a tool for division of mankind. More important than any discussion here about the past is what we're going to do about the present and future.
