There are solutions to these problems,

I think the point they were trying to make is at the projected rate of usage there is a diminishing rate of return. Think of the hunter gatherer, sooner or later you run out of the low hanging fruit. Then the agriculture age kicked in and the hunter gather figured out how to plant more fruit trees and invented the ladder. They had some very valid points, the fossil fuel based economy is not sustainable, we are wasting our fresh water resources, and the huge factory farming agriculture system is also not sustainable. Its just better to find solutions now before a crises develops. One thing they did not mention are the solutions, here is just one possible solution.
