See, that's what makes me doubt that the "GOP strategy" is ever going to work.
We're in the minority and our views differ substantially from the establishment majority and in order to stay relevant as leaders we have to participate in fundraising and other party activities in support of candidates we don't want to support.
Personally, I'm just not willing to do it. I'll show up at the conventions and vote if somebody gets me in, but I'm just not going to actually attempt to help candidates who hold views so different from my own just to stay relevant and be a good soldier in the club.
So unless a liberty candidate pops up in the local GOP, I won't be active. Can't do it. It would violate my principles.
