This video has inspired me to create my own back to Eden garden. This is very exciting for me as I had intended to try and create something like this about 20 yrs ago. I wasn't sure how to go about it, but with this movie I now know how to accomplish this. I am now clearing the place to put my vegetable garden. I will add fruit trees to the edge as I go. I have been cutting trees and turning the small limbs into wood chips. Also I have lots of leaves to mix in. The larger limbs will be fire wood and I have also built a saw mill to use the larger pieces. The area is about 150 feet triangle on the edge of my property to take advantage of the morning sun. My land is very much like what was in the movie with lots of rocks in the soil. This opened my eyes to the possibility. I am 65 yrs old and hope to have at least 20-30 more years to perfect this garden so my family can grow there own food for a long time without a lot of hard labor. I feel this will very important in the coming years.
I have now finished my first project and have greens(turnips, mustard greens, and collards coming up for winter. I also planted carrots, cabbage, broccoli, swiss chard, beets, radish, collie-flower and 2 kinds of lettuce. I am very excited and started clearing another spot. I think this will be a continuing work and look forward to the process. I also purchased a used 4 wheeler and added a truck type bed to it for hauling. It also works great to pull logs out of the woods as I clean up. A great investment. My plans are to make it a self sustaining farm. I also built a hand water pump for use with my well if needed. I haven't installed it yet, but it works great in the swimming pool.
