"The whole thing is meaningless and encourages mindless group thinking instead of individual thinking, as well as spam, trolls, sock puppet accounts, and every other undesirable thing."
I don't think that having access to information is meaningless.. it's what you chose do do or not do with it that can be meaningless.
"Why should anyone care what anonymous strangers think that happen to have the biggest mob at the moment? The whole idea is the opposite of the way many of us think. If you've really been independent minded all your life, you've dealt with mob tactics all your life - and you would rather not have them on your forums."
Mob tactics? How appropriate on a thread about the Masons who can be considered the experts in mob tactics if you ask me.
"A better idea would be able to see votes based on whom you like to read. That means you see if your actual peers - the people you like, whom you choose through the friend function, - likes your new post or not. It eliminates trolls too."
I can certainly agree with that idea too, as long as those who vote can opt in or out of displaying that information.
"It eliminates trolls too" That is wishful thinking.
I try to change people every day. Do You?
