Republicans changed their rhetoric after Perot. As a result a majority of states elected Republican Governors and took over majority control of both houses of Congress between 1992 and 1996. "Contract with America" anyone? Retired Congressman Ron Paul was so convinced Republicans had learned their lesson and were serious about changing their ways, that he decided to return to Congress in 1996.
I know Newt Gingrich is the one credited as the "architect" or "mastermind" of the "Republican Revolution" in the mid 90's. Maybe so. But Ross Perot, his 1992 election results, was the motivator.
