...therefore "voting your conscience" is not likely to be the same thing for everyone.

As for this misconstruing you keep hollering 'foul' about, it is not misconstruing anything for someone to post to you the definition of the word that your whole lecture hangs on, or to point out the part of the definition that causes problems for your rant.
