Comment: I'm giggling because this was Rhode Island in 2008!

I'm giggling because this was Rhode Island in 2008! This time around we decided to just do E-V-E-R-Y-T-H-I-N-G ourselves. The campaign honestly did NOTHING except send a paid volunteer contractor (who worked on many different political campaigns) to set up the phone banking the week before our primary.

RI was the ONLY Primary state to get 25% of the popular vote for Ron Paul in a Primary (and thus was able to send 25% of its delegates to the GODAWFUL RNC as Ron Paul delegates). The rest of the vote went to Romney - quite frankly because of the age demographic that showed up to vote :elderly FOX Watchers.

We learned in 2008 that the Official Campaign which morphed into the Campaign for Liberty which morphed back into the Official Ron Paul Campaign for 2012 was completely overrun with folks who were really into the Left/Right game and wanted to be "wheelers and dealers" in DC. So we just did what we thought would work. We got that giant billboard on RT95. We did some really impressive mailings. We showed up en-mass to the GOP meetings and acted very polite and SMILED. We went door to door and phone banked. We sign spammed. We did it all and the OFFICIAL CAMPAIGN pretty much had nothing to do with it.

I recently saw our state's GOP Financial sheets at a GOP meeting (they made them public) and I was shocked!!! They were so BROKE! The RI Ron Paul grassroots had spent almost as much on the RI Primary as the whole state GOP had in total (Investments / savings / cash on hand).

When I was recently told TO JUST LEAVE!!! YOU AREN'T A REAL REPUBLICAN!!! YOU ARE GOING TO VOTE FOR OBAMA!!! (I'm writing in RonPaul because it counts here) I felt compelled to tell the woman that it was too bad she felt that way because quite frankly the RI GOP needed me. They needed Ron Paul people and I told her that what we spent on the primary was almost equal to their entire holding. (which isn't much by the way)

She countered back - Why didn't people just give it to the GOP if they want Obama out?! I said because people DON'T LIKE the GOP in Rhode Island. But they like being American and that is why they gave the Ron Paul people money to campaign.

AND I also told her that I'd be happy to leave this party -Thank you very much- and I disaffiliated. Don't worry RI is TOTALLY Democrat. Don't worry. It really wouldn't make a difference if I stayed or left the RI GOP. The only people actually in it are all ex-governors (and their wives) or mayors (and their wives) and are very into "being someone special" at the non-stop fundraisers they hold - which obviously don't make much money! The RIGOP is a drinking game - screw around with someone else's wife scene....really.
