I don't think it means what you think it means.

“Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.”

Hello, Albert Einstein was a known prankster, this quote is a physics joke. In quantum physics you can get different results when doing the same thing over and over again. Also, it's not possible to keep all variables the same to be able to repeat anything over and over again. No matter how many times someone does something the same on the surface(newtonian physics). It's still at a different time, position in the universe, radiation, magnetism, electric charge, gravity ect... ect..(Quantum Physics).

People please stop misusing this statement as some grand philosophical colloquialism to encourage change. Besides, no matter how much things change they will just stay the same. We will always have to continue to fight for our liberties because evil always tries to take them away.

Try using this "version" if the quote must be used. It makes more sense philosophically this way.
"Insanity is doing "SIMILAR THINGS" over and over again, expecting a different result."

Now, "Same sh*t, differnent person(s)" or "Same sh*t, different day", is what I prefer to use.

Although for the federal reserve this seems appropriate. "Same money, same policy, same banks, same Bernanke, different president, same results."
