I would not buy whole life insurance, maybe this is a different flavor of whole life that is new though.
With the stocks/mutual funds ups and downs over the last decade I can see though how someone might like the idea of a steady ~5-10% (I think normally it's more like 4-7% on whole life policies) return on a whole life policy, but that isn't keeping up with inflation either.
Besides I trust insurance companies maybe even less than bankers.
I think all of the investment advice that has been cultivated for decades will soon be thrown out the window. As much as I am grateful to Dave Ramsey for helping my wife and I get out of debt, I think people who rely on market performance over the last 70 years to guide their general investment strategy will have their beliefs shattered in the near future.
