probably get a little further if you'd stop eating that damn cat food. It's hard to take someone seriously when they're crunchin' on a bowl of meowmix.....;)
Many times people have their self esteem tied to their world view. I run into it often with my liberal older sister and neocon older brother.
My mother who I consider mostly awake, can still watch an Ohmamma speech and say things like "he seems so sincere, like he's trying to do a good job."
Of course then I joke about a hidden antenna in the cable box that must have scrambled her brain. (I do believe that BHO is trained in NLP which is a form of hypnosis)
I generally take the position of having "no pride invested in the argument" and how I would LOVE to be wrong on much of this subject matter. All you can do is try and plant some seeds and agree that time will ultimately tell.
Now that the European economy is floundering, my sister in Italy seems to be more interested in what I have to say, because I told her it was coming a few years ago. She can still be thick as a brick when it comes to trying to break through to her.
It gets frustrating because we seem to be running out of time, and you don't want to see your loved ones hurt by their own (sometimes willful) ignorance. I've just tried to take the lead and have bought them (parents) silver and storable food and persuaded them to find a place to store it. They're already good on the self defense, as many Texans are.
