"It is incomprehensible to me that the majority of Congress and a large portion of the American people support this evil."
Why not? Where've you been living for the last 33 years? We've been taught to hate Iran our whole lives. The Ayatollahs have been our ideological foes even more hateful than the soviets were.
I am not surprised when I see neocon posts, laughing about children collasping on the streets of Isfahan and Bushire from exhaustion and starvation.
We are an evil, selfish people, stuffed to the gills with arrogance. It is, therefore, a natural consequence for us to derive gleeful satisfaction at the consumation of our 33 year struggle, and laugh at the intentional genocide of a whole people.
But the Iranians have gone through this before: the famine of 1919 killed three million people in Iran and it was an intentional genocide to weaken Persia in the wake of WWI.
Then, it was the British imperialists. Today, it is Militant American Democracy.
