But, on the other hand, fear has its uses. It is fear that keeps a toddler from putting his/her hand on a burner after having done it once and discovering that burns can happen and do hurt.
Fear is a tool; the important thing is how it is used. When it is imposed by someone with selfish interests, then it is evil. When it is used to teach a child not to put a hand on a hot burner, it is not evil.
There are hot burners 'out there', and in some ways *we* are all children with hands that can be burned--
it's hard to be awake; it's easier to dream--
