In a town I used to live near a familys property was stolen by the local school district to build a "beautiful, new "campus" to incarcerate all the kids moving there from commuters moving into the area. The kicker was that a high district official (I think it may have been the superintendent) had been after the farm owner to let him "develop" the property privately. The owner refused, the lovely property having been in the family for over 100 years. So this district crat arranged for it to be stolen from the family...paying "just compensation", of course. And "for the children" of course. And almost unanymous public support...for "the schools". People LOVE using the state to steal for them. They no longer believe stealing is wrong.
