You bring up a great point. I think every libertarian/DP supporter should be well versed in history, particularly of our nation. The political conversation in the US was very much like it is now. Back then you had the Federalists and the Republicans. The Federalists wanted a Navy, they wanted to government to be bigger, the Republicans, led by Jefferson were more moderated. Anyway my point is we can learn from history and things were not all that different back then. Often times in our mind we just view the first 50-100 years of our country as a bunch of liberty loving people having a group hug. Unfortunately that has never been the US.
