Dmitry Orlov writes extensively about his experiences during the collapse of the Sovet Union and tries to correlate those events with what is going on today. Keep an open mind when reading, many things will strike you as odd and many things will ring very true.
One thought that he clued me in on was this: Collapse isn't a national event, it is personal. When your situation collapses you won't hear about it on the news, you'll just know it has arrived.
