The doctrine of Jesus actually functioning as the head (not just given lip service to as being the head) is simply not practiced in what I've seen in America. The solo pastor has become high priest and usurped the rightful place of JESUS.
Pastors are only one of the gifts. They were never intended to become CEO of the local flock.
The biblical pattern is for local men(plural) who meet the biblical qualifications, to oversee the flock as they are led of the Holy Ghost. Any deviation from or lack of desire to see biblical accountability which is found in servant minded leadership come to pass, misses the mark and disqualifies itself from being a New testament church.
Since most pastors teach tithing, the doctrine of biblical eldership is anathema as it threatens not only their source of income but the mini elite world they inhabit. It takes a strong man to admit he and maybe even his daddy were wrong for decades. But when one is presented truth, it is a dangerous move to reject it.
I am for peace: but when I speak, they are for war. Ps 120:7
Better to be divided by truth than united in error.
The local church(not a building -a people) is the missing link. The time to build is now.
