I have voted third party in every general election for the last 20 years. Ron Paul was the only reason I paid any attention at all to the GOP for the last 5 years. Right now, on the Virginia ballot, I will have 5 choices, with no opportunity for a write-in: Romney, Obama, Johnson, Goode and Stein. Of those 5, Johnson is clearly the closest match for me.
What the hell do you expect me to do at this point? What possible benefit could I derive from voting for anyone but Johnson? I've voted Libertarian many times in the past, why not now? I'm not staying home. I will support Ron Paul any chance I get in the future, but right now I don't have that option on my ballot. Johnson certainly has his flaws, but he's no Bob Barr.
