That may be true but I'm not so sure. Ventura being a military man may have mollified some Republicans who thought Paul was "weak" on foreign policy. It's hard to say for sure, but I suspect Ventura's advocacy would have helped more than it hurt.

However, its also not clear Ventura would have supported anyone in the Republican party. But again for Ron Paul - he might have. It's water under the bridge at this point anyway. Not much point in speculating.
