Re Eric Holder

Great letter. I would highlight the historical precedent of the Contempt. Also since (per Wikipedia) in September 2012 the Justice Department’s Inspector General cleared Holder of wrong doing, stating there was “no evidence” that Holder knew about Fast and Furious before early 2011, I think it’s more relevant to tie the word “criminal” directly with the Contempt so as not to infer other misconduct. You can make a statement with as much impact while being more precise about the use of “criminal.” A technicality, but it speaks to greater credibility since the Contempt by itself is a criminal offense.

Suggested wording: (historical significance is mentioned in Wikipedia)

Also the infamous “Fast and Furious” program left its historical mark for lack of transparency. in June 2012 Attorney General Eric Holder became the first sitting member of a president’s cabinet in US history to be held in Contempt of Congress with the passage of a criminal contempt resolution; the vote was 255 to 67.
