Couple Things...

First, I do like the idea of not paying taxes on any used goods. 2nd owner homes - no tax. Thrift store clothes - no tax. Used car - no tax., etc. This would give people a really good incentive to be thrifty, buy used items, and save money.

Second, what if the Fair Tax was not at 23% but at say 8%? Would more people on here support it? One of my beefs with the Fair Tax (and all other tax proposals I've heard of) is that they try to be revenue neutral... i.e. maintain the current Federal revenue levels. I think we all agree the Fed gov't should be drastically reduced, so if we cut revenues to 1/3 of what they are and scale back gov't accordingly, would this be a reasonable compromise on tax policy for the time being?
