My point is that it took me a while to realize everything was effed. You are right about the fed being simple (I actually thought about that as I typed), but still the same it took me a bit to cut through all the window dressing and realize that. I lost faith in the system slowly.

With 9/11 it can be a shock, you can watch building 7 fall and in about 8 seconds realize everything is effed. by the time I saw building 7 I was already realized that the system effed.
