The opposite is true, actually

If you create a system to resolve a dispute or make a communal decision, and then agree to play it out, then you have agreed to the system and can't complain.

For example, if you and a friend decide to make a decisions together, say what type of take-out food to have, and decide to make the decision based on 'rock paper scissors', then the loser gives up his right to complain about the outcome (lest they be immature or petty or something)

So you can't complain if you vote and your guy wins, you can't complain if you vote and your guy loses.

so I would recommend getting some take-out food instead of voting.
