Doug, I respect you, but I totally disagree with your assessment

Traditionally, the guy who's ahead in polls two weeks after the conventions wins the election. I don't think this rule's been broken for 100+ years. The recent debates don't matter at all; by that point most people have decided and are just rooting for "their guy".

Also, I'm surprised you (Doug) didn't note this since you paid such close attention to the primaries, but in many states Romney actually did WORSE than he did in 2008. Amazingly, Romney actually becomes LESS popular as his exposure goes up.

Finally, to quote someone in the stratfor emails that leaked awhile back: "Romney? No way. Morman." The media love to softball Mitt on his religion (while simultaneously stoking flames that Obama's a muslim, how's that for a double standard?).. but much of the country is more biased against Mormanism than the media represent.

Obama's gonna win. Calling it now. I'm unhappy about it, but only marginally less unhappy than I'd be if Romney won (and the establishment GOP didn't earn a lesson to learn in backing a fake conservative like Romney).
