Primarily how the American system of government works.

Or should I say how it was designed to work and how far it has fallen from that original design. He also introduced me to Austrian economics which to be fair has much in common with the classical economic theory of Adam Smith but has advanced that to a more detailed understanding of human action in the market.

This combination of sound economic and monetary theory and proper Constitutional government are the two main foci of his message and underpin his political platform. It is therefore my view that the dynamic interplay of these two gives rise to true liberty in any society.

The way in which he has carefully defined the limits of government in legislating morality in what is essentially a morally depraved society has also been instructive. His connecting the protection of life with the protection of liberty is seminal in my view and the approach he has proposed to deal with this issue is quite frankly the wisest exposition of the pro-life position I have ever read.

This pretty much sums up what I have personally learned that is genuinely worthwhile as a result of following Dr. Paul.

"Jesus answered them: 'Truly, truly, I say to you, everyone who commits sin is a slave to sin. The slave does not remain in the house forever; the son remains forever. So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.'" (John 8:34-36)
