Certainly we have irreconcilable differences. I believe violent religious fairy tales and concepts of slavery like original sin are a stain in human history; only serving to foster violence in the hearts of man. Being raised in the south and in the house of a Nazarene Minister and later in a Catholic home; I can tell you I know the pews are full of hypocrites, and the ranks of those who call them selves saved are full of those who are equally intellectually and morally bankrupt. All the while thinking they know, or know the one who knows the "true" meaning of the scripture which is a work of man with 10s of thousands of errors existing between the copies of of just one of the gospels.
I can humbly say that if the god of the new testament is indeed the god of the old testament; the one smiting with reckless abandon and then groveling like a child, only to again smite. Then I want nothing to do with that son of a bitch.
Is it any wonder that our human existence is plagued with violence and reverence for authority when people follow that as their moral guide?
