The OT translations into English during

the Protestant Reformation (16th, 17th centuries) were not based on the Latin. They were based directly off of the ancient Hebrew which was had been preserved by Jewish scribes called Masoretes down through the centuries. How does taking the OT word for word put one at odds with the New Testament?
