Honestly
I'm starting to move to this view.
They shouldn't be ALLOWED to borrow and spend more than they take in. If they HAD to take it in somehow and COULDN'T spend more than they took in, from whatever source, I think people would be a lot more interested in where that cash is all going.
This "funny money out of nothing" business disturbs me and lets people think the government can always just invent whatever money they need to.
