land mammals holding breath...

you've never seen a dog get something under the water? Find a dog that likes to retrieve, throw something in the water that sinks, and you'll see your dog hold his breath. Sure, they don't dive deep, but they hold their breath. They also love to go into the water. Lots of land animals do! There are generalizations made in the theory that make it lose credibility to me, but I'm still open to parts of it.

Pearl divers can't dive that deep without a LOT of practice and conditioning.

I think i remember that many land animals start out with gills soon after conception.

Bottom line, evolution is a puzzle with pieces missing, but the overwhelming evidence is that it's the most plausible explanation, especially compared to creationism.
