Have you been to Bangladesh?

I haven't, but I have been to some very poor parts of China. So, I think I understand why a factory would lazily be locked as a security measure, rather than have guards on duty to prevent in-house theft and trespassers.

I seriously doubt "slave labor" was involved. Workers in these economically desperate situations are typically lining up around the block to get jobs at these businesses to make a wage that is fantastic compared to the alternatives (such as begging, stealing, or working over trash piles for parts and materials to sell).
