Helpful to know. Many scientific sites & dictionaries define Fluoride as a compound containing elemental Fluorine. Some mention F2 as a fluoride. I was thinking along the line which you wrote when I added, "Halogen gas." When I wrote, I contemplated how much to add into the post, without confusion. I know more about literature...
