"Coin of the Realm." - Rosie Rios, US Treasurer protects coin.

Simple answer is each nation controls its territory. Each protects its own coin. Treaties codify agreement among nations.

Step outside territorial bounds, who knows? What if you go 200 miles out to sea? Which nation has control? Laws of each individual nation protect their own "legal tender." The Euro cartel extends "legal tender" beyond national borders.

Privilege of creating "coin of the realm" - War is oft fought this privilege. Take away this privilege or destroy "coin of the realm" at your peril. Search beyond case law for what happens in these cases. Tis a mess.

Meet our US Treasurer, Rosie Rios. She has responsibility for protecting our coin, the US Mint & counterfeiting. See signs our green cash... paper-money. She authorizes & signs for our $16 Trillion National Debt.

Ms Rios is responsible for enforcing federal finance and tax laws. Her realm includes counterfeiting: http://www.treasury.gov/about/role-of-treasury/Pages/default...

And Ms Rios likes to work the crowd at coin trade shows: Treasurer Rios brings a genuine appreciation to the numismatic hobby and shares what it is like to be Treasurer and how she chose to be involved with coins and currency during her tenure in government.
