Look, one does not have to

Look, one does not have to embrace or endorse everything a person ever said or did, in order to support that person. It is possible to recognize what Ayn Rand did accomplish, and that it was great, even great for the cause of libertarianism, even despite what she said, and even despite all her flaws; just as it is possible to recognize what other individuals accomplish, despite their flaws. To believe there is any other way to recognize and learn from human beings is to play right into the hands of the state. For it is the state which encourages character assassination, utilizing this to divide us, and in the end, to prevent us from standing for anything. I think understanding this further frees ours mind to acknowledge intellectual debts, analyze past shortcomings, and attempt gain knowledge.
