Correct.

Essentially it's like this. Ron Paul got involved in politics over 3 decades ago after he realized (from having learned Austrian economics) where our country was headed when Nixon completely removed the link between dollars and gold.

That was the final thing restraining government. The U.S. Constitution, as Dr. Paul often reminds us, was written to restrain government. It doesn't place limits on the people.

So Dr. Paul's efforts were always to have the country "wake up" to the fact it was straying way far from the Constitution which would have disastrous effects.

It was only until recently (the spark began in the '07/08 run) that Dr. Paul's message really started spreading in a major way. I believe that was due to the leverage the Internet gave communications from anyone, not just powerful entities or networks. The effects of all this is loosely being called a liberty movement.
