As an engineer, you would know that at 17 seconds in,

about the only thing remaining of the structure was the perimeter walls.
You would also note the first move was a rotation of the entire building, meaning lower support was not severed, but instead buckled.
You would also know there indeed was a single point of failure, that being vertical columns under the east penthouse.
