I tried to get 'rid' of Christmas and faced full mutiny--
we tone it down; we focus on carols as much as possible.
One of my children (adult, single, Christian) believes that wintertime (especially in the bleak north) needs some lighting up and calls it a 'winter celebration'--
because it seems almost irreverent to pretend all the commercial stuff is about Jesus Christ, when it clearly isn't.
The most important thing for our family is to try to find people in need--
and help them out a little. That's what following Jesus is all about--
it's hard to be awake; it's easier to dream--
