Ever see the old TV show "Sightings" back in the 90s? It was my favourite show. They featured an early episode covering "The Hutchinson Effect" but I was already suspicious when the segment ended with John Hutchinson saying he would not present his findings to a third party without first receiving "additional funding."
A few years later, Sightings had a surprise for me: a segment debunking Hutchinson! In it, the presenter clarified that the strange effects were videotaped in a closed box UPSIDE DOWN.
Magnets held the objects in place. When the current was cut, the objects fell, though in the video, they appeared to fly. This became apparent in flying powertools videos, where the metallic parts flew ahead of the wires, and also the "rising paint" from a gallon can, which perfectly matched a thick substance oozing down from a suspended container.
I believe Hutchinson was sued by investors who somehow never got to see their investment in action.
"Cowards & idiots can come along for the ride but they gotta sit in the back seat!"
