I wasn't able to finish reading

your post (too tired), but you may like to check out Tesla's autobiography. He explains the mental exercises his father had him do as a child as well as how he exercised his imagination to counteract the vivid images from his memory(I think)that frightened him. He also built a lot of things when he was young. Apparently, he considered his older brother to be more intelligent than he was. Unfortunately, his brother died at a young age.
