While he should not be
While he should not be required to attend religious ceremonies that he does not believe in, nor should he be discriminated against for not attending, his understanding of our Constitution is wrong. It protects freedom OF religion, not freedom FROM religion. He did the right thing walking away if religion is not his thing. However, I don't agree that there should be no religion in the military. All recruits should be able to attend the religious ceremony of their choice, or not. It is their right.
