Rand is right.
If tax increases will damage the economy, which will exacerbate the government's budget problems, then the Republicans cannot vote for any tax increase without becoming culpable for the damage they will do.
Rather than pretending that the Republicans are doing us all a favor by reducing the amount of the increase, they need to separate themselves from the hypocrosy of 'compromise.' Evil and wrong in this case is clear....there is no grey area here.
Skilled negotiators do NOT settle for a bad deal...they get up and walk out of the room. Sometimes deadlocking is needed to reset expectations.
