Herein is a dilemma. Many religions agree, folks die because of Adams sin. Religions make going to Heaven a works based thing. If your good works outweigh your bad (sins), you go to heaven. Right?

A baby that dies at birth or before, (miscarried, aborted, ect...) dies for Adams sin yet has done nothing to earn Heaven. Where does that child go?

Nor has that child done anything to deserve mercy.

The Old Testament has several references of God wiping out whole cities with the children. If God is a merciful God, (and I say that he is) then how can he kill children and babies and be merciful?

Romans 5:12-17 "

12 Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned: (babies don't know they sinned, but they do)

13 (For until the law sin was in the world: but sin is not imputed when there is no law.

14 Nevertheless death reigned from Adam to Moses, even over them that had not sinned after the similitude of Adam's transgression, who is the figure of him that was to come.

15 But not as the offence, so also is the free gift. For if through the offence of one many be dead, much more the grace of God, and the gift by grace, which is by one man, Jesus Christ, hath abounded unto many.

16 And not as it was by one that sinned, so is the gift: for the judgment was by one to condemnation, but the free gift is of many offences unto justification.

17 For if by one man's offence death reigned by one; much more they which receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness shall reign in life by one, Jesus Christ.)"

So babies are covered by Gods mercy because of what Jesus Christ did. They did not ask for it because they can't so the decision is made for them. God is therefore just because of Jesus' sacrifice.

The rest of us that live long enough to realize that we have sinned against God are accountable for those sins. The difference between an adult and a child is the adult must "confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation."

Our constitution was made only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other.
