My confusion is rooted in the other's post about the properties of Hydrogen Fluoride, which has absolutely nothing to do with the compound added to drinking water and toothpaste.
Fluorine itself has bizarre qualities if I recall my high school chemistry teacher's remarks on the subject. Made more than a few kids look twice at their toothpaste -- for no reason.
