But, it's not uncommon for underage drinking parties to have a "runner" outside of the party as a guard. If the police show up, the runner takes off running, so as to be clearly evident to the police. The police seeing a runner can't resist, they take off in pursuit thinking the kid has drugs, alcohol or something to hide. The kids at the party simply walk away, drinks in hand.
