expenses. Short of a true anarcho-capitalistic system, there will continue to be taxation.

As I implied, the people paying are the ones that set the price by their willingness to pay it. The government could try to raise the tax to 90%, but no one would be able to survive and would be forced to evade taxes in order to sustain themselves. If the taxpayers would draw a line in the sand and refuse to pay any more than what they deem acceptable, government would be forced to adjust the rate accordingly.
