Comment: I believe this is what I have said.

I believe this is what I have said.

If you read my comment carefully you will see that I have said that the early Christians submitted to the Roman authorities in everything except the law to worship Caesar. This is the teaching of the Spirit in all times.

There is essentially no conflict since God has placed us under secular authorities for our protection and it is He to whom we are ultimately and always accountable. This is what Jesus knew and the Pharisees failed to understand. As Paul said in Galatians 5:22 "But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 5:23 gentleness, and self-control. Against such things there is no law. 5:24 Now those who belong to Christ have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. 5:25 If we live by the Spirit, let us also behave in accordance with the Spirit. "

We are to be light and salt in the world so that the society in which we live will become more receptive to the Spirit of God and amenable to the Gospel of reconciliation. This is the work of the Spirit and is not achieved through political action. Zechariah 4:6 Therefore he told me, “These signify the word of the Lord to Zerubbabel: ‘Not by strength and not by power, but by my Spirit,’ says the Lord who rules over all”

When we follow the Law of the Spirit and Life then we shall manifest the nature and character of our Father that the Lord Jesus Christ taught His disciples in Matthew chapters 5 to 7 in the Sermon on the Mount.

There will always be times when the purity of true Christian behaviour enrages the spirit of the bestial world system which is founded in violence and animates the vessels of wrath. It is in these times that we shall suffer persecution unless we fall away under pressure and make accommodation with the spirit of the world seeking to please men rather than God. This latter is what has happened in our own time and it is why our nations have come into judgement as our Father seeks to bring His people to repentance. This is why our societies are in a state of moral decay, it is the responsibility of the Christian churches who have lost their savour and substituted political action for spiritual. They have returned to Egypt and depend on the arm of flesh.

"Jesus answered them: 'Truly, truly, I say to you, everyone who commits sin is a slave to sin. The slave does not remain in the house forever; the son remains forever. So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.'" (John 8:34-36)
